Also, I am really happy at how much we are getting through and how people are making this their own. Many thanks to ayumu & kaspar for bringing a laptops, please bring your projects in with any questions and we can work through them!

In the second hour we will be covering different aspects of compression again and side chaining. This is becuase we ran out of time tonight. I also want to start demonstrating abletons interla effects so i will demo/walk through a couple of midi and audio effects and show off some creative uses.

There will also be a 10 minute video on signal processing.

There will also be a native instruments massive demo, including wobbly bass sounds, and non standard LFO sequences.

Remember, this is an open workshop, where we can all share our ideas and solve each others problems. I am really gratueful to those that have brought in laptops, keep it all coming. thanks

Tom posts some interesting ways to convert your multi tracks for use playing live. Instead of rendering a single stereo master he creates six sub groups and renders these instead.

Tom Cosm – Moving from the studio to live performance using Ableton Live from Tom Cosm on Vimeo.

While there are some interesting ideas here, i cant help thinking this could be done allot easier, by either creating a song template with the six predefined groups in it. Or by simply dragging the group tracks into your personal library (grouping them first) of course, and you can then simply pick up a single file that will drop right into any ableton live set.

I have used this method recently when making the new mix CD. I have worked on lots of different sections in pieces, rendered them to wave file, then played with them using Serato to get the flow right. Once i’m happy it works on the decks, I then merge the arrangements and alter away as necessary.

Very cool, and quick!

Task
